A one-woman show about love and how the nation finds it.

Plain and simple she’s just funny.

A blitheness and cheeriness that makes it difficult not to laugh along with.
Utterly at ease on stage.

Love Letters from Blackpool by Ruth E Cockburn is a one woman show using storytelling, song and recorded interviews to tell the story of love in this sea side town.

Ruth grew up in Blackpool. She found quickly that in Blackpool you could have one of three jobs. A singer, a stripper or a sales person. She giggles when she’s naked, is crap at sales, so tried singing instead. This led her to become over the years a comedian, street artist, actor, drag act and subsequently a theatre maker. You could say that Blackpool has made her the person she is today.

Ruth E Cockburn has performed in venues all over the country from the National Theatre, The Comedy Store, Shakespeare’s Globe, right through to working men’s clubs in Wigan and community centres in Cumbria. She’s done them all and now she’s returning to Blackpool with her current show.

Supported by Form and Royal Exchange Theatre.

Age 14+, contains mild swearing
The performance is 1h 30m long including an interval.
Under 18s are welcome in the venue until 10pm.
Make sure to arrive in time for the start of the show as latecomers may not be admitted.

Bootleg Social is a roughly 5-7 minute walk from Blackpool North station. If you are planning to travel from outside of Blackpool by train please check your journey in advance. Between 11th November and March, Blackpool North station will be closed, and replacement buses will be in operation.
